2025 Big Flat Jamboree Trinity River Event

Riding Rapids & Remembering Will Hoxie

This May, the Gaia Guides team made the journey up to Northern California to attend one of the most heartfelt and adventure-packed events of the year—the Big Flat Jamboree on the beautiful Trinity River. If you've never been, imagine the pulse of live music echoing through forested canyons, kayaks carving through sparkling rapids, and a riverside community gathering not just for fun, but for purpose.

A Festival with Heart

Held in honor of Will Hoxie, a beloved river guide and passionate kayaker, the Jamboree is more than a festival, it’s a legacy of love, wild water, and community connection. This year’s event brought together paddlers, musicians, friends, and family for three days of celebration and remembrance.

With events centered around the Pigeon Point Run, a thrilling Class III stretch of the Trinity, whitewater kayakers of all levels came to compete and connect. As a company that lives and breathes adventure, we were inspired by the energy and spirit of the paddlers.

Whitewater Wonderland: Kayaking the Trinity River

For those unfamiliar, the Trinity River is one of Northern California’s whitewater gems. Clear, cold, and wild in all the right ways, it offers something for everyone—from floaters and first-timers to adrenaline-seekers and seasoned river guides. The Pigeon Point section features technical turns, boulder gardens, and the legendary “Hell Hole” rapid—an exhilarating finale that leaves your heart pounding and your stoke high.

Our time on the water reminded us why we do what we do at Gaia Guides. Nature. Flow. Skill. Stewardship. That river brings all of it together—and the Jamboree reminded us how powerful these shared experiences can be.

Why Events Like This Matter

At Gaia Guides, we believe that adventure is more than a business—it’s a way to build stronger humans and stronger communities. The Big Flat Jamboree was a powerful reminder of that. It showcased how rivers connect us, how outdoor spaces can be healing, and how the spirit of one person can ignite a movement.
